    Hi Dp members,

As title says, can someone help me in getting a new site I purchased (which later I found to be blacklisted) to become indexed again in Google.

    Thanks

Did you spend a lot on buying the site? If not, i'd scrap it & start again.

You'd have to figure out why the site got banned in the first place (paid links, pr sculpting, duplicated content, cloaking) & take steps to remove that proble,. Then, once you're happy that it's sorted - submit a reconsideration request to Google. The holds no guarantees & it can take up to 3 months for you site to start being indexed again.

    Not a quick process

I agree, if you think about the time you will spend getting it white listed, you can be on your way with seo efforts already.

I made the same mistake once.

After putting some real content on the site and waiting to be indexed, I submitted a reconsideration request. It took about a year before big G re-indexed and listed the site. I still consier this name worth the effort but unless you have one you feel strongly about I would just move on.

All this just goes to show why we should do proper checks on websites before hitting the 'Pay' button. Even if the website look legit on the face of it, make sure you check:

    Backlinks
    For fake PR
That the site is indexed in Google for it's own name
Wayback Machine - for previous incarnations

Anyone got anything else to add?

EXACTLY! I would check everything, but may be why I always end up not buying them.

    Check
    • how many registered owners
    • how old is the site
    • Compete.com profile
    • Alexa profile
    • Quantcast
    • Listings in DMOZ or other popular directories
    • Has it been socially bookmarked, like Digg or Delicious
    • What's SEMRush score
    • Search for bad stuff about it using Google, and here on DP
    • and then search eBay to make sure they are not auctioning it off at the same time!
