I have a website where we buy widgets from people on the Internet. All the traffic that comes to our site are related to people looking to SELL their widget. The industry is fairly competitive with people paying $5.00+ a click to get targeted traffic. Have put Google adsense on the site, but they are showing ads for people who want to BUY widgets. Obviously if my site is all about selling widgets, no one is going to be clicking on the ads to buy a widget. How can I get Google to realize that they should be showing ads about selling widgets and not buying?
You can't. And blame the advertisers choosing the keywords to buy, not Google. Besides, how do you know that people won't just be searching for widgets, come to your site, go "heck, this site doesn't sell widgets, they just buy them" and click out through the ads?
I think you can't change the ads, but don't you worry, if you have visitors on your site, they WILL click on ads, don't believe you'll get only Mensa members on your site..
Have you tried section targeting some of the text on your site? https://www.google.com/support/adsense/bin/answer.py?answer=23168 Google decides what ads to place on your site by the text it sees in your website.
