Hello all. I will be starting a niche directory soon and have one question. What is the best way to get backlinks to the category pages and deeper so that they have decent PR as well? Thanks to all for the treasure chest of information about directories here. Without all these thread I would have posted a hundred questions by now. Just couldn't find an answer to the above question. Thanks again BH
Glad to see you search through threads first before posting PR will spread from the homepage into the category pages. Submit to other pages that allow deep links. Also submit your inner pages to directories if they allow it.
Popular or Random categories on sidebar can help a little. Also website style (not Google) directory sitemap should help a lot. Such sitemap is one step from homepage and have links to each subcategory which can be deep in directory structure... All of this will surely improove internal linking and PR.
