Google has now picked up my site but when I try the "Links:" command in the google search book it states that there are no related sites. I know that there are sites linking into mine but can't get google to see them. Yahoo sees about 19 sites. I'm desperate to try and improve my ranking so figure this would help. Can anyone advise? The site is http://emeraldancestors.com Many Thanks Dave
Hi, google is a very slow in the light of indexing back links. If You want to know on how many sites was Your site found, type into the search form: "www.yourdomain.com" Good luck
You should be aware that Google is aware of many more backlinks than it chooses to show with the 'link:' query. These are all taken into account when calculating SERPS.
google sees more links than they report on when you try the link: command. See my article on finding out what sites link to your sites
DaveEmerald, Google knows about the IBLs if it has crawled and indexed the page the links are on. Go to the originating page and check its cache. If the page has been craled and indexed after the link was installed you should be ok.
As most have indicated, Google is notoriously concervative when showing backlinks. However, at SES in Chicago, Google hinted that they may start showing more links in the future. For now, Yahoo Explorer it your best bet to see all you inbound links.
