Getting Advertisers to place ads on my website

    Hello,

    My website http://www.oldhouseguy.com
gets about 4000 hits per month, with 70% bounce rate.

I am soliciting certain family run businesses to advertise on one of my pages. This page gets about 800 hits per month.

I plan to offer a column ad 160x450.

I do not know how much to charge for this. I cannot find similar sites. Other sites are all based on clicks etc which seem to be too complicated. I would like to just set a flat
    monthly fee.

Any advise of what to charge?

Additionally is there any company out there that you could recommend that would find advertisers for me? I am in a unique field. Do they usually charge by taking a percentage of the advertising fee?

    Advise appreciated.
    thanks, ken

Just put a box in the spot you want advertisers and a link that says "Advertise Here". If you get 4k hits per month, someone will probably see this spot and order an ad from you.

Just browsed your site, very nice. I believe there are services that offer Banner AD selling... as they say Google it. If your lucky enough you should already be getting people to email you directly and ask to advertise now. However as the first reply stated you need to let people know that your looking to sell some space for advertisers. I'm not sure what 4000 a month will sell for...depends on your keyword srtucture and your ranking when compared to peers in that keyword niche.

You could simply visit sites that are like yours and see what they sell for. Of course you would then undercut them as much as possible.

And, you'll need to set a new PAGE dedicated to what size banner ads you'll allow and what price points. Here on that page you'll also share some of the statistical numbers your getting and what kind of demographics your attracting, I read there some sort of service that can provide you that very information.

I've not used this but I know people who have.

    http://buysellads.com/

Although the commission is 25%, if you don't use it then at least it's a relatively competitive market places so you can see the price you should be charging for ad space.
