Hi, I have just started a hosting company where i have just received the first few clients. A couple are simple monthly clients but one has purchased yearly and given me some good $$ to get a few more clients. Ok, ive got about $200US to spend on hopefully getting me about 10-15 more clients. What will be the best way to spend this money? I was thinking adwords, but i do not know which keywords to target as simple hosting needs a daily budget of about $115k lol... and a cpc of $13... thats a little out of reach. So any methods where i will be guarenteed at least a few clients just to give me some revenue to kick over. Any help would be greatly appreciated.. btw, the site is www.blinksy.com
Dotn spend it on advertising if you only have $200 because for hosting based keywords your cash wont go very far, you would be better keeping it in the business as capital as im sure if you are renting a server or are co-locating the cost of keep the server is about $100 - $500 a month. Wait till you have enough monthly clients for the amount they pay to cover the hosting fees and the ppc before you start advertising. Try just posting on various forums, submitting your site to hosting based directories and hosting review websites and try not to pay for anyting initially, if you dont have the cash dont spend it. (Learnt From Experience). Immo
Hosting is about as competitive as it gets! One way around this is to come up with niche and sell the sizzle instead of the steak. If you can find a script a lot of people are looking for, sell them websites that are already set up and working with the scriot installed. You could even make some extra money if you are an affiliate for the script. You see this being done poorly on Ebay all the time, all you need to do is improve on what's there.
Here are some good sites for info: www.webhostingtalk.com - running web host section of forum is packed with tutorials and great stuff www.sitepoint.com - not as much but forums are good too www.resellerguide.com - i contribute to this, hope its ok to post but not much like it, just for reseller hosting. www.whreviews.com - good stuff there too
btw, listen to warren, if you choose a good niche you are passionate about you can make some good money. If you go general and try to compete on specs is the hard industry.
