I'd started a professional forum - the first of many

    http://www.coppersdownunder.com

however google hasn't picked it up yet, any suggestions?

Also any suggestions of other niche forums?

simple, get a link from another good pagerank site.
if you can get a link from PR6 or high google will index you within few hours.
i think the link you posted here is enough you will get indexed within few days :)

Perhaps submitting a sitemap to google might help, with all the threads. That's what I did, and was indexed fairly quickly.

Just give me a +rep and contact me how to make a Sitemap+ get indexed faster. I know about Forum SEO a bit,

just search this term in google

    "site:bbxchanges.com"

That is one of my forums started less than a month ago.
and having trouble for more than a week.

Since you have posted a live link to your site in this thread, your forum should be indexed pretty soon :)

Check out the results after three days and you should find it indexed.

At the same time, do some link exchange with relevant forums / sites :)

    > Submit your site map to Google
    > Submit in all free directories
    > Include the link of your forum in the signature at different forums
    > Post comments of good blogs
I’m sure these steps will help you out. ATB.

alstar - always good to see another Aussie around here ;)

Links from forums and other web-sites help with indexing.
It's like giving Google a road-map on how to get to your site, rather than saying "It's on the internet somewhere".

If you're doing some SEO, I'd suggest you get rid of the PHP Session ID's from your URL's - and perhaps use your robots.txt file to hide "reply to topic" pages.

Good luck - and PM / e-mail me if there's anything specific I've said which you'd like some pointers on.

Love your work. Eventually when I have some internet income (slowly getting there) - I want to improve the forum by adding a linked site with RSS feeds on topic similar to Officer.com only better. What would the cost be for your company to do something like that? PM me if you like.

Write an article related to your forum and submit it to ezinearticles.com. Link to your forum in the resource box. Then the Googlebot will come.
