Getting 4.5 times more impressions from BlogRush

For those that haven't heard of BlogRush that launched this week, you put a widget on your site that shows 5 headlines from other peoples blogs, whiel showing your headlines on other peoples blogs in return. Yesterday I discovered a trick to get 4.5 time more credits for your impressions (it's not against their T&C's, it seems a fair trick).

Basically you become your own referrer to 10 levels :D

I posted more detail info on my blog explaining how it works:

    http://blogsformoney.com/post/Clever-Trick-Getting-45-Times-More-Traffic-From-BlogRush.aspx

I also posted a graph showing my credits for the first few days:

    http://blogsformoney.com/post/BlogRush-Stats-Now-Working-Lots-of-Traffic-Coming-Our-Way.aspx

I wasn't expecting much from them, since I've seen similar program in the past fail, but they really seem to be exploding :)

blogrush is going to have because so many people are extorting it already and it is becoming another banner/traffic exchange type program

I have been blogging about similar problems with the system. I think the idea is sound I just don't think it's been fully thought out.

BlogRush will become huge because it has John Reese behind it and he has the time and money to build it as large as he wants to. He dropped all of his other online efforts a few months ago to concentrate on a new venture called Income.com and this is part of that. Get all of your blogs signed up for it ASAP and reap the rewards in the future.

The idea behind BlogRush is good but frankly, it is still too premature to expect much from it but let us keep it under our radar. As for the trick you are using, in the long run, if everyone uses it, it will certainly dilute the effectiveness of our ads. But I must say you are smart! ;)

It won't change the effectiveness of our ads - it simply gives extra credits to us instead of our referrals. It's a little mean though, but if everyone does it, it's just like BlogRush awarding 100% of your credits to you (and you get 0 from your referrals).

However, if you do this trick and your referrals don't, you'll be quids in. If all your referrals do it and you don't, you'll miss out.

I just posted a comment on your post, but to let others know, the developers of BlogRush are going to start accepting blogs MANUALLY. This means that trying to "cheat" their service might not work.

It's just like another link exchange by the sounds of things. You put my headlines on your blog and I will do the same in favour. If that's how it works then it's kind of like a link exchange, but if you have to have credits so that the headlines show on the other blogs then it's like a link exchange and a banner/traffic exchange in one.

I don't see how blogrush could violate the AdSense TOS, but there sure are a lot of people worried about it.

At this point, it seems like Google would lose a ton of money themselves if they started canceling the accounts of everyone who is using it...I've seen blogrush on tons of blogs already, and it seems like it will grow even bigger since they are acting so quickly to resolve issues.

I joined Blogrush and so far it looks intersting. Im not sure how to really tell specifically what traffic comes from them though.

I was just at my Blogrush account and saw this notice just added:

IMPORTANT MESSAGE: Click- through rates are very low right now due to problems with some users cheating the system. We are a few days away from removing all abuse from the system and you will see your click-rates increase. We are also moving to a Manual Review Process for all member blogs which will also increase the traffic you receive. Thank you for your patience -- we're working hard to improve this beta version of our service.

I believe CTR is low because the traffic is not targeted (even though they keep saying it is). While I think blogrush has been promoted in great way, but at the moment it might be too untargeted to get much benefits. Let's say you have a blog about marketing ... and then you can see blog rush title saying something about flowers. Now why would marketing bloggers wanna go checking flowers - or especially click anything on the flower site when they get there?

Similarly: if there's a political blog, and blogrush shows headlines about copywriting... I doubt that leads to anything sensible.

Naturally everybody can use Blogrush as they want, but before it's possible to define certain blogs (or blog categories), Blogrush will not give targeted traffic.

    And targeted traffic means income.

Yes, they sent an email a day or two ago about adding more categories, (they are working on it).

We should be able to specify more than one category as well.
Some of my users use their blogs as their personal diary as well as for poetry for example. They should be able to select it.

That's good news. A fun option could be to choose certain blogs only...

The good thing is, BlogRush seems to be responding to the issues and anxious to address them. You can't say that about too many ventures like this.

As far as negative stats go, there is a message at the bottom of the dashboard that says bonus credits aren't being displayed...the negative credits could just show that they've been dipping into those to give you more impressions.
