To get traffic from natural searches, it takes 3 - 6 months. You alexa ranking is around 330,000 which is pretty good for a site that is less than 2 months old. You have a forum, which is good. You probably have email list. Occassionally, send emails to your list with some interesting articles - because chances are that some of the visited your forum only once to ask one question and got a response and then never came back.
Yes, if your site is a month and a half old you are being waaaaayyyyy to impatient. You can get 2K visitors per day if you're lucky, but in just 45 days it usually doesn't happen unless you're doing something evil or have a crazy gimmick. Sites that grow slow and stead are more solid anyway. Keep doing what you're doing - post every day, comment on other blogs, comments on forums, guest post, submit to article directories, and just keep doing and doing and doing this. Every week your RSS subs will go up and up and up and up. If your site were getting 2K visitors in 45 days I would worry it would all dry up quickly.....quality natural traffic takes time.
I asked how hard it would be, not how to - I know the how-to's - which is mainly backlinks form related sites, an seo friendly site and unique content. I also disagree with you. It's very possible to make the top 100 in less than a year...and that's without spending money on seo. I get some traffic from google right now. Maybe 50 visitors a day from it... I'm getting about 300 uniques a day all together on average. By the way - I'm ranked on the 6th page of google for a search result with 25,600,000 results -
I have to disagree with you Ashley. For years I was so focused on PR, backlinks, and all that junk. I totally disregarded the more experienced marketers here at DP who were saying "content is king!." Ya know what??? I was wrong and THEY were right! Recently my site got downgraded from a PR5 to a PR4 so I decided to reorganize my site and add more pages and more content on the pages already there. Wow! My position (and consequently SE traffic) on various "important" keywords skyrocketed! Don't get me wrong...I still believe you need some link juice to get started. But once your website is "primed" with a few good backlinks...content rules!
It just takes a lot of time. I know that my site is averaging only 50 unique visitors per day and if I stopped the free advertising that I do (posting on forums, EntreCard etc...), that number would fall.
I KNOW. I said content is OBVIOUSLY important. But no one will know about the content unless you build your backlinks and everything else...So you disagree with that? Because that's what I had said
It's easy to get that much if you want to spend some money on PPC, contextualize or traffic. However, those traffics are most likely crap and low conversions. Real gold traffic comes from dedication and the time you spend to make your site better.
You know that 2000 unique visitors per day is a dream for every blogger. Try to get 100 per day and you'll feel satisfaction...
You have to put in a lot of effort. On my tech blog I get over 7,000 unique visitors per day. However I publish over 15 articles a day.
If you want to rank high for a competitive keyword phrase, it might take you a while. Google put new sites into a sandbox where you can rank well for long tail key words, but not the main competitive keywords until at least 4th month. If the keyword is super competitive, it might take a year. That's the reality of things. Go to any top site in the SERPs and look at their WHOIS. You'll see whoever own the site has been doing it for years.
Interesting topic. I advise to just keep getting those related backlinks to your site. But then im sure you know what your doing by the sounds of it, just have patience my friend
