Getting $0.5 - $1.50 per click on a tennis website

    Hi Guys

I'm the webmaster of a dutch tennis website and it has followed to my attention that my CPC is pretty high compared to what I see round here! Especially the English ads pay very well...Despite the high CPC I only got a 0.5 CTR % .. is it possible that if I can get the CTR to rise my CPC will rise aswell? And is this CPC normal for a sports-related website? Thanks.

Only some sports. I know of a fantastic niche within sport which pays $2 minimum per click. I'm currently developing the site.

If you can increase your CTR, and the clicks you send covert well for the advertiser you will maintain the high click values, otherwise you will be smart priced.

Just be sure to filter MFA sites and fiddle with your ad placement to get the most out of it whilst you can.

    Good luck.

My ad placement is good enough I think, I bought a book about Adsense and followed all the tips and stuff like that. They're blended in. I noticed a definite increase after I blended them in, here's a screenshot

    I hope I won't get smart priced...

For more clicks position the actual ads above the content.

For example, put the ads at the top of the rectangle followed underneath by the player stats.

In my opinion it's because tennis is a really well paid sport.

SjoerdH, I like the layout of the site. Looks good, but maybe I would try to experiment a little with the AdSense placement like jambo182 said. It may bring you even more clicks. Good luck! :)

I wouldn't if i were you. Cause your site would then be too annoying to browse, just ads everywhere to be seen and relevant information harder to find.

The result might be an initial surge in clicks, but then a drop in traffic, as visitors will maybe go to a more user friendly site. In the long term agressive ad placement might cost you visitors and $.

    The layput is amazing.
The ads are merged very well, i'd say.

Perhaps your target audience are not ad happy.
Perhaps you still haven't got many Search engine referal traffic yet.
    Wait for sometime.

Don't change the layout of the ads.
    Those are perfect.

Usually regular visitors don't click on ADS.
Don't annoy them by throwing the ads at them.

Just wait for more Search Engine referral traffic, and your CTR will increase, I hope.

Again, you have blended the ads well, IMO.
