GetAFreelancer - A Big Trouble

    Hello!

I have been with GetAFreelancer for over 3 years now. They come with some problem or the other often.

They make changes to your account without informing you and then if you wonder how this happened, then you need create a support ticket that don't have a proper response time. And, they tell you that there is some stupid problem with your account we need more information or proofs etc.

Recently, I requested withdrawal of about $1000 on sunday night for the second time as last withdrawal is reversed by PayPal. On monday morning I noticed its deleted. And the reason from their support is that I sent about $10 directly to another user without a project. And the solution is simply to request again and wait another week.

They look so immature that they don't even have the common sense to at-least inform the user though email that they are doing making changes to your accounts so that you can know there is some problem and we need to resolve it.

My suggestion is try to avoid making money transactions for big project via GetAFreelancer. So that you don't have to relay on their unreliable support. You might end up in some problem sometime. Look for alternatives. If you want feedbacks do small projects.

Note: Just now I checked my account they at-last recreated the request it says i will be getting the money today but their support says you will get it next week. They don't even know what they are doing. And one person says I get it and one says you wont.

Thanks for the warning, I have been looking around at places where I can do some freelance work and I will try to stay away from this place.

Right. They are giving away thousands of hard earned as prizes :(

I lost $60 just for refunding the project payment to buyer and getting it back from him.

GAF is full of cheap buyers. The support is pathetic and the site is not user-friendly AT ALL. I used to go there to find work but it's not worth my time now.

i had the same problem with scriptlance.com. a project owner sent me just $25 directly to my account for an additional work of a project. and scriptlance suspended my account. and they stolen my money US$1200 that was a big money for me. i requested them allot that i dont know if someone will give me money without another new project post that my account will be suspended and u will not give me my own money.. but they never listen.. This happened to me in 2007, since then i never suggested anybody about scriptlance.. i have been winning allot of projects via getafreelancer.com, and they always gave me my money in time, i am surprise looking at this news.. But atleast you are lucky, getafreelancer.com people are good they told you to request again and in one week time they will give you ur money.. but scriptlance people are like frauds.

oh! i don't know much about Scriptlance, elance etc. i know they suspend accounts often. after all no body is perfect.

As of me. I never needed to goto any other site from the day one I got project in Getafreelancer. So, far done more than 70 projects in Getafreelancer so not bad. From 3 years, I am paying the gold member fee every month. And got a lot of good clients.

GAF just don't know how to differentiate between genuine and scam. They just irritate everyone with their policies. They must implement a better system to identify fraud.

i heard may be GAF and scriptlance are making a venture, it will be so bad, scriptlance people are really not good enough, they are real thieves.. since a big while i never goto any freelancing sites, as i am unable to trust on them, but stills i never had problems with GAF, but may be they are adopting now scriptlance policies.. however, i will suggest to all fellow programmers, designers, SEO specialists, etc that be careful with scriptlance, scriptlance is real fraud.. they specially steal the money of programmers belong to countries like india and pakistan. because they are so far and cant do anything. scriptlance stolen the money of one of my valuable client in the past, but that client filed a case against them and he won and he got his money back... i really hate scriptlance since they stolen my 1200USD, that is real big amount for someone like me :( anyway, i wish other freelancers best of luck.. And thanks for the share my friend, I will be careful with getafreelancer.com too.. I suggest if you dont have other resources to get projects, that be gold members at GAF or any website, but donot use their payment or escrow system, ask clients to pay directly at ur paypal or whatever account u are having. and the freelancing website like GAF should not mind for that as you are paying for gold member fee and client is also paying for project posting fee already..

i guess if you carefully follow their terms and conditions or rules to use, then GAF is the best site i used ever.. i cannot recommend scriptlance to anybody, i know its very famous, but scriptlance people are cheaters, they do steals people money, i heard so many cases... other goods are rentacoder.com and elance is very famous too..

On the subject of freelance...Scriptlance, is not safe at all, all their user database was leaked along with passwords, they didn't even encrypt the passwords! (which emphasises how secure they are)...Pretty pathetic for a freelance site.
