Here is possible thread to avoid all these "I want to get into dmoz" threads. Simply place your URL, description and category you want to get in and hopefully you will get reply from editor (former or active), if your site can get listed, is your description pure ***** or it can pass and did you get your category right. Once you get all three correct you can submit to DMOZ and hopefully get listed during your lifetime.
http://www.dicereviews.com Web site allows visitors to read and write reviews to various entertainment products, such as movies and music. Comes with an innovative rating system based on a dice. http://dmoz.org/Arts/Entertainment/Reviews/ Site was submitted with this information 2 weeks ago. The dmoz category was last time updated: - well it have no date stamp...
Sorry, not even close to being ready for dmoz. It doesn't matter what the site allows visitors to do or if the rating system is innovative. The fact that it's so low on content makes it pretty much useless, and why would it matter what type of rating system you have if you're the only user. A nice idea, but not ready for serious consideration. Keep working on it and you may be able to make something good out of it.
Well I'm not the only user Pirates Of The Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest Is a good example of a site that already have gotten various reviews. But then again the competition in the category I submitted to are fierce. Just look at http://www.blakwatch.com/ http://www.bluntreview.com/ http://www.candidcritic.com/ http://www.crashryan.com/ That was just taking the sites on the top of the category. You are right - My site is no match to the sites listed here
Good point. Always check the category before submitting to get an idea of the benchmark. If your site is not at least as good as the best one already listed then get to work improving it. Not for the purposes of submission, that would be a bonus and there are no guarantees on when it might be reviewed, but it is excellent market research on your competitors.
Did you check the links in his post? I don't think he was serious, just little sarcastic. Here is what you see if you click on the first link: The rest of the links are also made for adsense pages.
I didn't check the links and it doesn't matter if he was being sarcastic or not (though I suspected), the point is a good one - use the categories as market research. Hopefully an editor will see it and remove them - I'll revive that travel services thread again soon - plenty of quality control issues there too.
Not a good idea for people's health. People just get mad after looking at all the one page made for adsense sites that is owned by editors while they can not get their site in and their blood pressure starts to go up.
URL: www.gpsgazette.com Title: GPS Gazette Description: Provides news and information about the latest GPS units released. Category: http://dmoz.org/Home/Consumer_Information/Electronics/Weblogs/ Criticism, opinions etc are welcome
I know this if users post their sites here , its 99% going to be rejected. So its a waste of time posting here (dunno post at dmoz maybe u will get lucky). PS: editors of dmoz plz do not look at my signature else chances of mine getting accepted (hmm 1 year + gone already) = -10% . Regards
