Now looking for a FireFox extension to translate pages from one language to english while viewing a non-english website......
thumbshots.de is backlinked at DP, so how come it doesnt show up in http://thumbshots.de/cgi-bin/show.cgi?url=http://digitalpoint.com ?
One problem I'm seeing with thumbshots.de is that any images on a site don't show up in the thumbshot.
The solution is on this forum: On view public profile, if u have a homepage, it will show a thumbnail of ur site. Now the url is: http://msnsearch.srv.girafa.com/srv...EARCH&cy=en-us&r=http://www.digitalpoint.com/ Substitute the last bit with the URL you want.
Again this seems to be cached - because I seem to get Preview Not Available for some sites that I entered. New one here - http://www.domaintools.com/tn.html?domain=digitalpoint.com&t=0
last time I looked thumbshots.org only does dmoz listings and doesn't do inner pages (unless they too are dmoz linked)
then use alexas thumbshots http://www.alexa.com/data/details/main?q=ranktips&url=http://www.ranktips.com/
Ok, I've finally found it (amongst all my bookmarks). It's kind of manual, but you can get thumbshots in real time. If you wanted to send a post request you could probably automate it too. http://webshots.velocitysc.com/WebshotSandbox.aspx
Those guys kinda put me off by being banned from this forum within 24 hours of signing up. I never saw the posts that got them banned though That's one way of putting it

Hey Dataman this one is cute http://www.ya-right.com/capture.php?url=http://www.cavweb-forums.co.uk/ the site looks ok - have they objected to the imaging or what?
Interesting, on the ya right about page it says the image capture script is: Yet according to Sarah's post, you're just using HTML2JPG to produce the thumbshots. So much for your MIT SGML parser. I was even believing it, as hard as it would be. Sarah, you could probably just get html 2 jpg and set it up on your server. That's probably going to be the easiest and most reliable solution. It looks like it's just a perl script that opens up your URL in Mozilla on the server and takes a screenshot. It wouldn't be real time, but it would be on-demand and the thumbshot would be available about a minute later. Anyways....
