This is just one of the things that is quickly growing to be annoying. When I click on Forum, I expect to go the index of the forum, not a pulldown menu with all the sections listed. I think there is a place for that feature, but I'm not sure it should be on the primary button in my personal opinion. I find myself clicking it (instead of the much smaller and far less noticable "Forum" link below it. I would rather reverse the two. Make that feature part of the less noticeable forum text link, and the button go straight to the index.
In my mind that is one of the best features DP offers. It provides a quick navigational menu. For mods it is necessary to hop from one area to another as rapidly as possible.
Oh, i'm not saying the feature doesn't belong at all. I'm just saying that I think the feature should be placed elsewhere. I move from section to section a lot too, but I prefer to do it from the index of the forum. I think the telling sign would be to know how many people click on the forum button, then click on the "Forum Home" option. I bet a good portion of those clicking on that are going to that option versus choosing one of the sub-sections. Maybe some analytics to check into!
It is also used in ebay.com. Makes browsing from one section of site to another much easier. You don't have to go to index page 1st to navigate to a different section IMO all forum owners should use this menu. Saves lots of time and hassle.
if that wasn't there it would suck without some kinda shortcut method as said just click the logo its thats simple you would cry for it if it wasn't there I know i would
Thats the thing I like about DP. Just click on the logo or the "forum" link in the breadcumb to go to forum index
