Many people have problem with AdSense and ad relevancy. In fact, it's the #1 problem people have a low CTR. My Problem I wrote a page about ways to treat acne from home. I noticed that ads were popping up for "alcohol rehab." This was because 1 keyword on my page, "rubbing alcohol acne." triggered those ads. Problem Solved - Now 100% Relevant I've never had extremely relevant ads anyway. Usually, general acne ads would appear. However, I commented my own article a few times. I left long comments. In these comments, I left highly targeted AdSense keywords. After leaving a few comments, I deleted my internet browsing cookies. I checked the page, and the ads were now extremely relevant. Ads about "Home acne Treatment" and "natural acne treatment" now appeared. Point - If you want more relevant ads, comment your own articles with highly relevant keywords. It works! Relevant ads can take a CTR from under 1% to above 10% easily... especially if you have good placement.
Hahahahaha dude, this is working excellent. I tried it on one blogs about bakery, the max CPC I got EVER (had the blog 3 months) was about 0.75 cents, and 10 minutes after I added some new keywords by commenting high paying keywords (but still relevant) and I got a click worth $1.09. Thanks a lot, you can't imagine how much your post meant to me. I appreciate people sharing their secrets and successes.
Most people rewrite their entire posts, but this is usually harder than just writing comments. Anyway, I'm glad it worked. Keep checking your ads to make sure they're relevant... (especially on high traffic pages) Note: This can sometimes backfire if you overdo it, or add the wrong keywords. I had a post about 5 hour energy -- It was display general energy drink ads. I created a few comments with ONLY the words 5 hour energy (minus drinks) Now, my main #1 ad is 5 hour energy 50% off... IT WORKS just make sure you use the right keywords.
The thing is if you rewrite your own content, people will know it's the owner who wrote it, and therefore you have to be writing with a certain quality. If you pretend to be someone else when commenting, people doesn't care, no matter how bad it sound.
Good post. What about html sites with no comments? I have a website for those who looking for a contractor, but get ads how to become a contractor )) and I have no idea how to change my keywords, title to get right ads. Some "lawyer/attorney" sites are displaying ads how to make electricity!!!! Weird.
Ad more keywords to your post and try to determine what keywords could be triggering the unwanted ads. For example: I had a site about "Perfect Pushups," but was getting ads about "Pushup Bras." Obviously i couldn't remove "pushup" since that was the name of the product i was reviewing. However, I did manage to add more sentences with the word "perfect pushups," which helped display the ads as more relevant.
It never occur to me to comment my own post to bring that effect. Insightful idea and nice solution. I would try it on my blog if it has problem with AdSense and ad relevancy. Thanks a lot.
I have seen this happen on a blog where the admin posts a comment with the link of the page itself in comment. I don't know what that does. Can anybody explain? Good advice ttomp13
hmmm.., thats quite good advice///... its something out of the box... very good.. keep it up.. i'll try too..!!
I tried this years ago, and found that it didn't make much difference if any, Google are a lot smarter than we think, they have an un-metered bank account, i am sure that when serving adverts that they look for do-follow / spam comments... if you made a blog about say "Gold Fish" for example and 10 people posted "Forex" related comments i would bet my bottom dollar that Adsense will not display "Forex" related adverts... We should put this to the test actually, but i am sticking to my above comments i don't think it will help.. Actually here i have a "Race Horse" related website: A Race Horse now go and post a comment on the top article.. and i'll monitor it over the coming days.. normal clicks are worth 0.40 cents...
