You're right latoya. Writers simply shouldn't wait for clients to come to them, especially if they're just building up their client base. +1 for you!
Exactly. When you're just starting out, you can't afford to sit around and wait for clients to come to you.
And even if you already have a client base, you can't afford to not contact them from time to time. But that's another story.
That's true, too! I have a list of "marketing ideas" and one of them is "Contact old clients." Rather than contacting them with a general, "Do you have some work for me?" approach them with some ideas. You've written for them before so you should have an idea of what they're looking for. Show them that you have a genuine interest in their site, not just in getting paid.
I work with copywriters and many of the challenges was finding one that could write advertorials and or sales letters. Althought its copy, it was hard to find copywriters that had experience creating those specific formats. Any resources to find those type of copywriters? Art
Occassionally. I don't particuarly like management-type books. I'd rather read for entertainment. I do read books related to my niche - personal finance and small business books. Even then it's the For Dummies or Everything books. I should do better.
actually, i've only read one marketing book and the other for copywriting. i'm not saying the title here. they're popular titles, but it's up to the others to find out about them.lol well, anything that would help you write better is fine, i think.
i got 5 profile infractions for "cold contacting"!! reason : spamming not sure whether its allowed now..
As I've already said in this thread, no, it's not allowed. And if someone forwards us an unsolicited commercial PM coming from you, yes, you'll get a 5-point spamming infraction (or be banned immediately - I ban immediately if you've sent it to more than one person).
I know that I have gotten jobs because people have seen my writing skills and have seemingly enjoyed them enough to order from me. I recommend not getting jobs in the copywriting forum unless you are just looking to make enough money to pay some renewal fees or something along those lines.
