Walk around town and post ads wherever possible. Also, make the membership sign-up page very simple and fast. People hate big forms.
Create a TV commercial and have Dr. Phil star on it. Just kidding. I keep seeing a lot of match.com commercials on TV. I like the flyer idea. An ad in the newspaper or a radio station might even work too if you wanted to go the paid route.
I have seen a lot of what I call "bandit" signs for dating service around St. Louis. I think it probably works well, just those little plastic signs like a for rent sign. I think they cost about 5 bucks a piece, but in heavy traffic areas are probably pretty good.
i think people does not like to join empty forums and dating web sites. you must give some good thinks to your visitors before they join your site
Its a tough market to get into, it seems pretty saturated to me. What is about your site that sets it apart from the others? It's a lot like trying to start a social networking site. Your going to have get a good base going before people start signing up organically. I'd offer a contest with a cash prize that you would be entered into if you signed up.
You need to be extremely creative to compete. There are thousands of dating sites and unless you are creative or have a big amount of money to spend, you will not succeed.
Make your site content rich. Post some fake profile, so new member visiting to your site will feel that he is not the first one here. Join community sites. Like my space. Use myspace bulletin for you advertising media. Myspace users are your target niche. Second option come in my mind is, Use Craiglist here you can at least drive 100 visitors daily to your site. Then join some dating forums use signature link. You can also go for Paid advertising. There are lots of options e.g. Google adword – YPN – MSN – Adbrite - clicksor etc. Regards D Maind.
