    As we know Google Calendar can send SMS messages about upcoming events.
    I decided to take advantage of this great feature to monitor their mailboxes at Gmail.com.
    Wrote the application for Google App Engine, which checks every minute of mailboxes (Feature added to check up to 3 emails), and if it's a new message, send SMS to the number that is listed in Google Calendar.

    What you need:
    1. register for the Google App Engine (http://www.appspot.com);
    2. download the application code (http://j.mp/mail2sms_en);
    3. include your application name instead "mail2sms" of a file app.yaml;
    4. download an application in name_of_my_app.appspot.com;
    5. visit the URL name_of_my_app.appspot.com/settings and enter the address boxes.

    After registering at https://appengine.google.com/ create a new application (Create Application)

    Make up a name (Application Identifier). For example, AAAAAA.
    Then your application will be addressed AAAAAA.appspot.com

    Folder you have downloaded the application rename from mail2sms to AAAAAA.
    In the folder AAAAAA have a text file app.yaml.
    Open it in notepad and the first line replace mail2sms to AAAAAA.

    Must first install Python (http://python.org/ftp/python/2.7.1/python-2.7.1.msi),
    and then the SDK (http://googleappengine.googlecode.com/files/GoogleAppEngine-1.4.3.msi).

    Appears on the desktop shortcut to Google App Engine Launcher.
    Run it.
    In the window, click File/Add Existing Application ...
    Select a folder AAAAAA (click Browse ...)

    the best way is to try a free service called weekwill.com

    its works very fast and u get sms instantly. also u get the body of the email as sms too..

    Hotmail already have that feature. But, i am not sure if it is not available for any country. However, it's working for me.

    I use a service called AwayFind.com and love it!! You can set it so that only the emails that you want to be alerted right away gets to you via SMS. Pricing starts at $5 for 100 alerts per month. Check it out and see if this would fit what you're looking for.
