If you type in "define: <word>" on Google, definitions for that word come up from several different sites. How do you format a glossary so that Google picks it up? Or is this dictionary function something that they do manually in-house? It doesn't look like they're all "authority" sites.. for example: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&q=define:mobius&btnG=Search The second definition is from a small(ish) site.

Type define: <any word> on Google and it will give you several definitions of the word that it has found on the web.
in the google search, if you type in the search box, define: term, you will see the different definition of the word term. that is the way how you make your search for the definition of term reliable.
No, I think you misunderstood. I have a glossary of niche-specific words and I want to know how to format it so that Google will see it as words and definitions and return them as results.
I'm just guessing from looking at a lot of the source code of define search results, that a lot of the websites are putting the term "glossary" in the title & or description & even page names (i.e - www.blabla.com/glossary-yourword.html). Also adding definition to the above may also help Check out Dublin Core metadata. A lot of authoritative sites seem to use that, but to be honest - it's way, way above my head so I could be way off mark.
