Since yahoo is one of the most Popular Search Engine. So it can bring a high traffic to your site. To get listed in yahoo search you have to add your URL to Yahoo search. Yahoo has both paid and free submission option you may choose any one according to your requirements. You may even add you XML feed and all URLs using a text file. Generally they take 6 week to get listed but it varies depending on your site. Initially yahoo will crawl only few pages of your site then you will find that more pages are getting listed in yahoo. If you site is in yahoo directory then you need not to do all this things. To add URL You must have a Yahoo ID.

You don't need to submit your site to yahoo, you only need a back link from site that already clawled by yahoo. And aslong as you have back links yahoo will find it's way to reach your site.

And if you get back link from busy site, your site may crawled in 1 to 5 days depending where your back link came from.

The paid and free submission is for the Yahoo directory and you don't have to submit to it to get indexed and included in Yahoo search. You need to get plenty of inbound links. Yahoo also has a paid inclusion called site submit express. This is where you pay to have a certain amount of URLs crawled every 48 hrs. Yahoo is #2 for market share but Google has a far bigger portion of the market share.

Yahoo! will easily include your site in its search. The hard thing it getting into it's directory. The directory is the key to getting a good Yahoo! results rank. My site is noncommercial, so i'm trying that route. If you have a for-profit site with a budget, you may want to consider forking over the $300

you donnt need to submit to any major search engine to get your site indexed i them. $300 for a directory listing is not much considering the boost that you get in SERPS when u actually have a yahoo listing.

It is worth a try. I have heard of people getting money back when a site was declined for site submit express.

How long does it take for Yahoo to index your site if the site is new? What if it has good number of back links? Does it make a difference?

    I registered a domain (flybynightrealty.com) on July 17, 2006 and it was in Yahoo!'s index on July 19, 2006.

The only links pointing to that URL were "Signature" links.

i cant see myself ever dishing out 300 for the listing but i guess you never know, it might really give your ratings a boost.
BTW, yahoo charges the 300 to review your site within a week or two(?), not to list it, if they review it and find it unworthy, they keep the 300.

I'm not convinced that being listed in the Yahoo directory helps all that much with search results.

My site has 24 listings in Yahoo's directory (most choosen by Yahoo editors on their own accord) and it really doesn't help me in their search results. Consistantly I don't appear in Yahoo or appear well down in the SERPs for search terms that both Google and MSN rank me at #1. I also know of sites that are my competitors that rank #1 in Google and MSN for specific search search terms and really are the most authoritative source on the specific subject yet they don't get any respect from Yahoo for the same search phrases.

People complain about Google's relevance, but I sometimes really wonder what Yahoo is smoking. They may not have as much spam as Google, but they also seem to have a habit of overlooking some really important sites for specific issues.

What I need to get a free Yahoo directory submission?
Does the paid submission is forever? Or I need to pay 300$ in year?
