Not at this time there isn't, perhaps in the future there will be, but right now I think the resources we have are being used for things that have a higher priority for the Directory. :)

Hey, nobody is perfect, I myself have gotten a little on the lazy side lately. :D

Why don't you join us as an editor and show me how it's done? :)

Posting on here takes up far too much of my time to do much editing at present. The Q's there will just have to get a bit longer. And being called lazy, really does not encourage me to go and spend more of my spare time looking at sites offered by people who call me that.

If its any consolation, I don't think your lazy *shrug*. As I do not know your odp login name, I can only assume that you put as much gusto into there as you do here. And you are loyal to the project, and that, in a way, is a very special thing. While we see things very different on many fronts, it is the good of DMOZ that is our end result.

In fact, I do not think that editors in general are lazy, as many have pointed out, it is a volunteer position (SEO, and Staff excluded)...with that, there is no real laziness, unless the editor does not get that one edit once every three months.

Heh... encouragement from me in the form of a left handed compliment? Does it help any? ;)

I think you're fairly level headed, Q, in most of your postings, and have a better understanding of the Directory than you might have had at one time. Your views are important, you're certainly intelligent, and it would be nice if we could all work together somehow. :)

That's not really a good idea. The fastest way to get a site listed is to submit it to the correct category. It doesn't matter if there is a listed editor. Many editors can edit all categories. When I'm editing, I usually start at the bottom categories of an area and work my way up. I rarely start at the top and work my way down. Even if I do start in a high category, most of the sites are not in the right spot so I just move them from one cat to another, leaving them in unreviewed.

If you have taken the time to get a good assessment of the site (enough to move it), why not just finish the edit? I try to not do double handling in anything I do so I am curious.

Not speaking for suzy1212, but for myself.

Because it only takes a moment, in Regional, to look at the address on the site and send it to its locality, where it usually has to be listed, and in a Topics category one glance is enough to see if it belongs there or in another category.

Moving sites is a task in itself, and it usually involves 50 to maybe 100 sites at a time sometimes. It kind of like tidying up the house a little, before you start doing the tasks you really set out to do.

Plus, there are category editors below us who can't reach those sites until we send them down to the categories they have editing permissions in.

Hope you don't mind me jumping in suzy1212, :), I know you can speak for yourself, and might have a different take on it.

Sometimes I do, IF I'm moving it to an area I'm very familiar with. Often it isn't and I'm just getting it closer to where it belongs. I get a lot more sites added when I stick to one area at a time and not jump all over the directory. The alternative is to just skip over them and leave them sitting in unreviewed in the wrong cat. Then I can get a lot of correctly submitted site listed, but the mis-submitted ones sit much longer.

Thank you, but you edit in areas I've never been to and are the expert there.:)

As an editor, you will know that there are several takes on listing a site and one is to write the description. That can take a while and as suzy says sometimes the site is sent to areas we do not normally edit in and so we have to read up how that particular cat has its desc written.

But it is not just editall's who face this, have you not faced it in your cat and had to send any sites to areas that you can't edit in, so you have to place it in unreview there? Or did you just delete any submitted to your cat if it was not the right cat?
