If it's a web-based email provider (gmail, hotmail, etc.), not directly in the email... but you could subpoena the mail provider for the info.

All emails have what are called mail headers. For your program I found...
    http://www.oucs.ox.ac.uk/email/headers/owa/
    http://www.oucs.ox.ac.uk/email/headers/

hope this helps tell your dad to talk to the web tech computer geek at the school to and maybe the principle if necessary being harassed like that from a person who is too scared to show who they really are sure shows a lot about the person behind the email and how scared they are to reveal there true identity

in gmail actually you can click on the down arrow in the top right of the email next to reply all text and choose the option to "show original" also this feature is in other emails ive seen it in yahoo but you have to look around for a bit

hes barking up the same tree i am and that website should be safe but youll need the headers first i think but that website does have some usefull information on the same topic and could come in handy

jfi. Google doesn't provide mail sender's IP address unless there is a court order !!

Right, but you don't get the end-user's IP... just the IPs of Google's servers.
