digg and deliciaous will NOT give you good backlinks. if you are for traffic, then yes you will get some but not good backlinks
If this is what you teach people at the web academy in your signature, then they are getting ripped off big time.
Digg and Delicious are only useful to index the pages you bookmark. If you know bait linking and know how to copywrite a good headline and description you might get some substantial traffic. Back links from these platforms don't carry much weight from an SEO standpoint.

Aside from social bookmarking, participate on other techniques as well like blog commenting, forum posting, classified ads, press release, article submission and link exchange. These techniques helps generate traffic as well.

I would say they can give you backlink if your site passes digg's algorithm of getting do follow links. Hope u guys get this.
