Get Forum started

Hi

I have a new site which includes a forum but how do i get the party started?

I am running a signup competition but whats the best way to get conversation going?

Hire people who can post regularly and good quality, keep doing this until the information database grows, as the info grows you will get search engine traffic, people looking for information will join and it will start smoothly, Signup competition will only make them to signup, if you can induce conditions in the competition like post 5-10 quality posts, to get eligible for the prize, it will help you.

Then EVEN if these people leave, but more people will come and become permanant memebers...

 

You can join http://forumpromotion.net/index.php and promote your forum for free also they have a massive post for post, sign up for sign up etc exchange section which is free to use too. This will get your forum looking busier, create some conversations and may even get you permanent members.

you have to be very active first six months or so, adding good content.

have a set of people help you, paid or nonpaid. friends are best option. if you need to hire somebody post at the buy sell section at DP.

 

i think form prize is a bad ideah after the contest they stop posting and remain inactive. I would work on SEO its what i've started doing. Also create 20-25 differnt account and start posting. Sucks talking to yourself but then members start to come and you can concentrate on seo.Dont go for high keywords like forum and forums almost impossiable to rank for. I got ranked but not very high. i'm doing low keywords instead expect some better more targetd traffic promoting my sub forums. Least i learnd something from it lol stick with it no matter what you decide.

 

Perhaps a good way would be to create fake traffic/posts at first so it would make a feeling its populated ...then real people would sign up to discuss.

 

i truely think that u need to start coming up with new and good stuff as often as possible ..... may be atleast 10 posts per day
that multi accounting might give u some push but really it wont get u far if u dont have any good topics

and also create some controversial topics as long as they are in your limits e.g. politics, recent IPL issue (its about cricket), these topics always involve people and push them to post and come back ......

try inviting everyone in your social contact list and messenger list and your friends to join.

Don't forget to optimize your forum for search engines. You can get new members through search engine optimization. No need to spend cash for it.

 

creating content is key to a very. keep it fresh and people will return.

 

hire some persons to keep posting every day

 

Yeah you could also hire posters to create content for you to get the ball rolling

 

Do a referral contest and perhaps try some post exchanges! Hehe.
