Sometimes you may be know this.
Once you have published your blog, you can then ping it using services such pingoat.com to get a flood of traffic quickly. This process has been called ‘blog and ping’ and it’s very easy; it dosen’t take more than 2 minutes to ping it with many blog directories. Your blog will appear on many websites which have a high traffic flow, guaranteeing you visitors.

Great recommendation, even better you can automatically have your blog submitted with a tool like AutoBuzzer

I hope people are eing sarcastic here - how can pinging hurt a site? Blogger and wordpress do it automatically, as along as you only ping each service once per post its pretty standard blog submission fare....

this is definitely not blackhat and this step is pretty part of the standard promoting practise whenever you create a new blog post..

Pinging is a method that is...oh just about ten years old. If you don't know about pinging then more than likely you have never used a blog or read up on how a blog works. Now pinging websites isn't effective at all really, you can bring in some low quality traffic but google can see the tags on your blog and sites your pinging which hurt your SERPS if the sites are unrelated to the post.

This doesn't mean you'll get a flood of traffic. It just means other sites will know your articles exist. If you are using wordpress you have many options to do this and many services you can use each time you post an article so that you don't even have to think about it, it just happens with each post.

I have never gotten a "flood of traffic" from pinging.

What are you considering a flood?
