I can't find any forum match this topic so I put it here.

I was trying to bid a couple projects in getafreelance.com, but it's so difficult to get the first one. :(

maybe I can't make the impress or don't know the tactics to get one.

    Anyone has the suggestion?

    here is my profile

    I'm a top user there in top 10 ....

You bided like only on 5 projects what do you expect ?
Olso it has nothing to do with your profile .... it has with your bid in each project

Olso for exemple me i bided each day and in the first 4 monmths not even one project now i'm in there in the top 10 freelancers ...

Olso one advice for the first projects untill you get some reviews lower a bit your bids ....

    Regards

    thanks.

thought no one will answer my thread.

the reason i bid only few because i afraid i will get more than one project at a time and i can't manage them.

now I realize that I don't even get one. LOL

I use GAF a lot. Here's my feedback:

    1. Stop asking people to contact you. They already posted the job, they shouldn't have to contact you. You contact them.
    2. Improve your English, use a spelling checker or every time yuo post get a buddy to fix your grammar/spelling. It's really working against you.
    3. Post a bit more text. 2 or 3 sentences (no bullshit like you kow C++ and shit like that) with your bid that shows the buyer you can do it. Then PM them with 2 or 3 paragraphs outlining how you would do it and what you need and that you are ready when they are. That normally convinces me.

Yes, It is really hard get your first project at GetAFreelancer.com. Buyers first see reviews of providers. Some buyers not even looks at the bids, if bidder have 0 reviews.

No problem. In general, 'we' go there because we have something we don't want to do ourselves.

    You post:
Actually, no. We won't look, we are not on GAF to be told what to do, we are there to tell *you* what to do. So don't say things like 'contact me', 'look here'. They know how to pick you if they want you. In the bid you post a couple of sentences showing you understood the request and that it matches your skills and experience. Then in the PM you can post some links to past work that is relevant. Just say:

Here's some similar work I did:
link1.com - I did this and that using such and such
link2.net - note the X where I did this and that

Just doesn't tell them to look. It's too obvious.

On the other hand, I joined Getafreelancer.com only last week, have been bidding tremendously, and I got my first job just yesterday. I think it's all in the way that you present yourself when you bid on a project.

it's exactly like doing business here in DP :) when you don't have any iTrader rep, it's hard to sell / buy something.... after the first 1-2 deals, it starts to go smooth ;)

Well, getafreelancer isn't the only freelance website.
I would recommend joining other freelance websites that have just been launched recently like this one, where the freelancers don't have many rating. By the time these new freelance sites become very popular, you'll be one of the most recognized members.

I'm one of the top webmasters on scriptlance.com and i use getafreelancer too, so my advice to get the job is just submit a demo - if it's a php script do the script and show a demo - you'll get the project!
