how do you get those extra links and search box in google when they search a keyword for example if you search surfline (not my site just an example) you get the extra links.

does google only do that for number 1 position?
I tryed to search in this forum but came up empty.

    thanks for the help.

    They're called sitelinks.
Someone asks on dp about them every other day.
    You don't do anything.
Google will give them when your site has been up for a while and if your site has enough pages and an appropriate structure.
It has nothing to do with being an 'authority site', most sites get them for their own domain name, and yes, so far they only appear if you're in the no.1 spot.

Google does this when a website is particularly strong for a certain keyword. Often it is the actual company name. Google thinks there is a fairly strong chance that you are looking for something on that particular website. If you get enough quality links with a certain keyword as anchor text, you might get sitelinks for your website. I do believe you have be ranked #1, but somebody may have noticed otherwise. Here is what Google has to say about sitelinks:

Thanks for the link, its an interesting read.
I didn't know anything about sitelinks or how you get them, so now that I do, I have some more things to work at. Reaching no.1 will be the hardest part.

If it's the photography site you're working on, there is a one-box local results for "wedding photography hampshire"

    http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=wedding+photography+Hampshire&btnG=Search&meta=

You should submit yourself to Google Local to get some easy traffic. Add "wedding photographer hampshire" into your Local listing title for a boost. Simple, but seems to work.

    Those are called sitelinks.
Its an automated process and no one can forcefully get that.
The main thing is, your site have to rank #1 for the keyword for a very long time.

If your keyword or blog post lasts on top positions of Google search for about 6 months , Google automatically assigns site links to smoothen the page navigation.

Sitelinks do have an "authoritative" look to them. Immediately makes you think this is a large company. Thanks for the info - really doesn't have anything to do with the size of the actual company. But a well structured site map, website and page names will not hurt as well!

Site links are auto generated by Google to helping visitors. This is only generated for only those sites which high volume of traffic to this site inner pages too. You can not make site link for your site but you can remove after creation of that site link for your site via your webmaster tool.

Thanks for the heads up. I am already listed, but when I checked your link I wasn't in the list. I've now edited my category keywords to include my region etc. That should make a difference.
