This tip is simple yet effective and takes two seconds to do. Basically in your twitter profile the "web" link (where you usually put your url) is "no follow" BUT luckily for you guys, do "bio" area is a do follow area. Simply switch your link from the "web" section to the "bio" section and voila a free link for no work what so ever. Above is a picture that shows the process in action. The red box means no follow and no red box means do follow. Hope this one helps (I wrote about it on Moneybites.com a while back and everyone seemed to love it, so figured I'd share it here as well). Enjoy -Mattaw
For pr on the page, depends how old the page is, some do have a bit of pr others don't, its just a free easy link To find if things do follow, I use the search status plugin (for firefox) that has the option to highlight no follow links
Wow, great hint about twitter. I have just found and joined this forum and am already learning good tricks! I did it as soon as I read this! Now, how do I give ( or receive) this rep thing? You deserve lots of rep for this one!
Thanks everyone glad you like it. To give rep, simply hit the weight symbol in the top right of any post, this will bring up a rep menu that you can then fill out.. As I've said before pr depends on the page... some do have a bit of pr others don't, its just a free easy link
Since there is no path from the home page at Twitter to the profile page, then I would say the PR is coming from external sources. And usually those external sources are from that persons own website or blog via a widget -- and most of those links are Nofollow. If you have seen a profile page with PR, please post the Url to the page. Then we can get a clearer picture of what is going on. Also, the profile pages do not get crawled very often. Your profile was crawled back in July. This is usually indicative on how important it is. But, if you want to take 15 minutes of your time and have your email address submitted to yet another entity -- by all means do it. As far as links go, these are pretty much no value.
http://twitter.com/shoemoney - Shoemoney's twitter, shows a pr 5 for me http://twitter.com/wesmahler - Wes Mahaler's twitter - shows a PR 3
I can see Shoemoney with a PR5. There are some high ranked external sites linking to their twitter page, and a whole lot of them. Internally, Shoemoney are followed by other Tweeters, of which some also have high ranked profile pages such as Danny Sullivan. (The links are in those avatars which are dofollow, and if a tweet shows on their page). So technically, you need to get followers inside of Twitter and external links pointing to your profile page. Basically, you need to develop backlinks for your profile page because that page is not going to rise in PR on its own. Or am I missing something? Now if you can get Shoemoney or Danny Sullivan to follow you at Twitter. That would be kewl.
I've got a PR8 profile page on a certain site (which I can't share for fear of spamming). By checking the "View Source" I do not see "nofollow" anywhere on the page. But I'll wager that I'm getting the PR0 that shows on the public page acccessible to the general public, not the PR8 showing on my profile page when I log in.
