After a site goes live, with unique content.... is it better to get a best of the web + yahoo directory listing right away.. or is it better to wait a while before getting the listing? Was wondering if i should wait till i am in the SERPs for my keywords, and THEN getting the listing to boost them... or to get it right from the get go... any advice would be much appreciated, thanks in advance
BOTW would not accept your site if its in construction phase or no enough pages and will take your money too.. So wait before it gets popular
I'm not talking about buying a link when the site is under construction. I'm talking about as soon as my site is finished, with all the content in the site already and everything functional, but with 0 backlinks and not cached in google yet. Would you suggest waiting till my site has a little bit of PR and a few listings in the SERPs or buying a listing right away as soon as my site is ready?
Why do you say it would be risking it by getting it right away? Personally, i thought it would be better to have the site established for a while before getting the listings so that i could see exactly how much it helped my rankings... but i'm curious to know why you think theres a risk of losing it
Yeah BOTw and the other listed will take your cash and not guarantee a listing. So basically you end up losing your loot for a review of your site.
Those listings are no different from getting links from any other directories. You are pretty safe to submit there. Make sure your site is fully completed. None of those 2 listings can guarantee you any priority in SERPs. May be better indexing.
It's very hard to get into BOTW...That's why people say it's risky! However you can submit to the other directories over the internet, some of them are great ones too and usually there's no risk, you'll get a full refund if it's rejuected.Including my directories!
I do not think a site would have all the content when he was born. I wait for one year to submit to yahoo directory and I do not think both directories would accept new born sites with few content.
Before you submit to them, submit to a few other directories starting with free ones, an then moving up, You may think your site is ready, but if you start getting rejections from the lower ranked directories, it might give u hints When your site sails thru all the directory submissions, then go for the big 2 on your list
Exactly. A listing in BOTW is certainly good to have but if you think its going to make a huge difference, you are wrong. Also, I don't think BOTW would accept your site without being cached properly by Google. I will wait for at least few months before submitting to Yahoo Directory. Just to make sure it will be listed there with first try.
Yeah, you can first submit your site to some strongest directories, when your site is well indexed in G and has good backlinks you can try submitting your site to botw and yahoo.
I guess it's safest to post your URL here and see whether people think the site is ready to be listed in quality directories like that. Just having unique content isn't the same as having a good amount of quality content.
A few misconceptions here that should be clarified... A qualification for listing is NOT based upon popularity. Even if we are the very first people to see your site, if it contains useful and unique content, relevant for the category in which it should be listed, then it gets a listing. There is no "popularity" to concern yourself about. If the vast majority of pages are still under construction, then it would be wise to hold off on submitting. But if the site is completed, as the original question states, then there is no need to wait. The age of the site is completely irrelevant in determining listing suitability. Once again, as long as the site contains unique and useful information, it will be listed - regardless of the site's age. That's entirely incorrect. We don't care whether your site has been cached by anybody else - it's not a determining factor in listing. Whether it is "better" for you as a site owner to submit sooner rather than later, I can't really say. I guess that would be a matter of preference. However, hopefully I have cleared up some questions...
A round of quality directory submissions is one of the first things I do upon site launch. It's a great way to build the proper foundation of your online marketing efforts, and I have found it helps to get the spiders in quickly.
