Hi, My client wants his site ( www.selquin.com ) to rank well in German , Dutch and Austrian search engines under the appropriate translated keywords. We have reserved the appropriate domains for those countries eg. .de and .at . What else should we be doing to get the site ranked. We have some German pages on the site Any suggestions would be appreciated whether its on page optimisation or link building etc (how do we get links from foreign language directories). Are on page techniques the same as for a English language site or are there any differences? Anybody now anyone who specialises in SEO for these countries?
Hosting the sites physically in those countries helps. Also make sure you get mor elinks in that language to it than other languages. That helps the search engines decides 'where it belongs'. Other than those tips, it's the same really. Write good content and get a good amount of links.
I am doing seo work on a German stone mason site too . If you have time send me a PM, lets explore how we can help one another. My clients site is hostedin Germany and its has .de domain extension
-- Thats great advice. Hosting in the country you are optimizing for and backlinks using the right anchor text in the language your working with. I imagine the on page stuff is just the same as english, it just has to be in German or whatever language you are shooting for. I've got the same type of project coming up soon here, but ours is in Russian. If you need help finding a German SEO you might leave a new thread in the forum lobby or SEO section here. I did that looking for web hosting in russia and received several replies after a couple days.
Thanks for the information everyone. Its what i expected really. The difficulty seems to be building up links with the translated anchor text! Temi - I'll wait until the client gives the approval and then i will contact you if thats ok. I'm already working on his UK site so i'm hoping i get the job.
