For recent visits within the last 24 hours, there are the red things that look like balloons above the city, but there are also these red dots with the names of locations but no balloon, and they seem to be where I have had visitors in the past. Does anyone know how long they stay up after someone has visited my page from there? And for some places, I have never seen the balloon above the location, but looking now there is a red dot there so it means it must be older. Yet more recent locations have lost their red dots, so I don't know what to make of it. Do some locations only show up as small red dots, and never as balloons? because I check enough that I would have noticed them as a balloon. This is a long question, thank you to anyone who can aid me with an answer.
It won't let me copy the image but here is the link http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/geovisitors/ to their picture and if you click on "united states" you can see a couple examples of it
if you take a close up look at the us using their drop down menu option and look up at the middle of lower canada, you can see the little red dots with city names but without balloons.
not all cities have it. on mine only cities people have viewed my blog from have dots. i was trying to figure out why european cities never appeared as balloons, only as dots and and figure out how long the dot stays after the visitor has left.
The dots that label cities have nothing to do with visitors to your site. It's just a city label. The more you zoom in, the more of them you will see.
that doesn't make sense for mine, because obscure cities will be listed where people have visited from before (there were once balloons) yet the capital of the state will be missing. perhaps i should give you the link to my blog, so you can click on the geovisitors link at the top and see for yourself. it's http://blog.myspace.com/itsmilky
I promise, that's how it works... you are going to have to trust me. If you see them in cities people visited from, it's purely coincidental.
ok thanks for your help. just out of curiousity do you know why only cities in england, scotland and ireland are labeled with cities, as well as only torino but not the rest of europe?
