hi folks, for a UK-site hosted in germany, we have set up special IPs and RIPE-entries for UK, so that the site looks like hosted in UK. But if I ask the "Geotargeting Website To Country Tool" it tells me, the site is located in germany. Ooops! Which way goes this tool? Is this the same way like google does? TIA -letreo
The IP address is registered to Germany, so Google will see it as such: http://www.ripe.net/perl/whois?searchtext=213.152.242.5 But you should be okay since your domain is a .co.uk domain. If it was a .com, Google would not show it in UK results, and only in results for Germany (when doing country specific search).
Hello IP of my site is 207.210.105.30. All service include www.ip2location.com show that my site located in United States, Georgia, Atlanta , except your sevice it show that this ip located in Canada, Ontario, Timmins. And strange fact I receive many visitors from google.ca and little from google.com. How you define geolocation? By my observations your data is right.
This is tool of guy I know few years. It's mainly statcounter but it also have functions (contact him for further info) wher you can diversify code for ANY country or EVEN cities. http://www.geoplugin.com Basic account is free and if I remember correctly it allows you to check 10,000 IPs / day, accuracy (country). Also they have premium accounts, something like 2$ a month will get you 50,000 IPs/day and accuracy (city). So people from London will see different code then people from Birmingham
This tools also show that server placed in Atlanta, but some facts say that tools from digitalpoint is right (or work like google's algorithm). I change hosting and check how change my position from different regions.
