Geotargeting in Webmaster Tools - Specify US or Just Leave Blank

    Which is best?
Is it better to specify "US" as the target for a US-targeted site, or is it better to leave the geotargeting blank?

Will specifying "US" result in greater US traffic? And less foreign traffic?
Will the traffic be "higher quality"?

Will leaving geotargeting blank result in less US traffic? And more foreign traffic?
Will the traffic be "lower quality"?

For instance, if a person wanted to optimize AdSense income, what should they do?
Should they try for the "most traffic", or should they try for the "best traffic"?

    Thank you for your opinion.

I'm wondering the same exact thing. I am having difficulty deciding if i should choice a country for geotargeting or not. If i do change the setting will my traffic decrease? Can someone please give me some insight? :(

I think for the most part setting a target country would just limit the foreign traffic. It may also help with geotargeting though.

With an adsense based blog, I think you would definitely want to leave this option blank. This would ensure you get the most overall traffic. It may still be a good idea to set a target country for some sites. For example an e-commerce website might only ship within their home country. This site would not benefit from foreign traffic at all.
