Trying various banner ad delivery scripts with geotargeting.
Does this one manage to pick out which country you're from?

For me it says "The GeoBase detects that your ip address (64.202.160.187) is located in USA". No other geotargeting script has problems finding out I'm from the UK. I am using a 'regular' ISP, not AOL etc.

P.S. If anyone's tried Adpeeps let me know how you found it, particularly compared to PHPAdsNew.

    Cheers.

    I think that's right ...

but who pays for geotargetting when there are free geoip tools out there?

Thank you. MaxMind GeoIP was actually the alternative I was considering and using it with Max Media Manager (PHPAdsNew). However, the free version of MaxMind GeoIP does not include auto-updates of the database (they've emailed me to say only the paid versions can be auto-updated). You have to manually upload the latest database to your site once a month.

I don't mind paying $100 once to save me years of manually updating the MaxMind GeoIP database. Unless there's a script out there to go to another site, pick up the database and add it to your servers?

I haven't checked the latest version of the code but the script a client was using was causing the site to fall over when a visitor had a new IP address. They allocated a new block to his home ISP and he couldn't see his site at all. Caused endless angst while we tried to suss it out.
