Hi folks, I'm new here and new in AdSense as well. Is it possible to show different ads to page visitors who live in different geographical areas? I'm trying to build a site with lots of content pages, each following the same general template. The most frequent ad words will be city names and names of cultural events. Now, since it is technically possible to determine the geographical location of the page visitor, is it possible to show different ads to people who visit from the same city as shown on the page as opposed to people who visit from anywhere else? Let's suppose a particular page lists "Paris" several times. It would make sense that visitors from outside France would be shown hotel booking or car rental ads, while locals would be shown ads for some local services. Perhaps I can do this trick by user language settings. I plan to offer the site in various languages. The user sets language preferences. If his/her preferences are French, a page with lots of "Paris" and some other French text would show ads of local services (in French), while users with English (German, Spanish, etc.) language preferences would be shown hotel booking, etc. ads in their own respective languages. (The whole point of course is to increase ad relevance to site visitors, encouraging a higher click-through) Is this feasible? Does this require any programming? Thanks for your input Csaba / Hungary
Google will automatically serve ads based on the IP address of the reader. E.g. I'm from Singapore. The ads on this forum shows me ads from Singapore.
Ok. I live in Hungary, and I frequenly look at travel related websites. When I search for famous landmarks in Rome, I find mostly hotel booking and car rental sites that relate to Rome. (Hotels in Rome, Rome accommodation, etc.). I wonder if people who live in Rome search for the same keywords see the same ads as me or not? Do language settings matter, or is it only geographical location derived from the IP address that matters? thanks, Csaba
