Geographical location and Site IP address

    Hey,

I have begun to think about something in the last few days.

I know that the server location of a site with country tld does not matter because that domain name is automatically associated with a country by Google, however for .com tld's for example things are a little tricky.

My concern is that picking the target audience in Google Webmasters of a site with a .com domain name, for example, is not enough.

So i want to ask you, from your experience, if you target users in the US with a site that has a .com domain name, is the location of the hosting server in the US a plus or makes little difference?

    Looking forward for your replies.

IF your site is hosted in the US then there is a lot of chance of targeting the us users only.

You are targetting .com INTL right now....if that is your main audience that will be enough....If you want to say target the UK, then get some high quality UK niche related backlinks to your site....

Where did you get the info that geolocation of hosting and the SEO for certain country do not matters? If you target US customer then you should have these criterias

    1. Common Domain TLD - This including com / net / biz / org / info. Not only com you mentioned.
    2. Hosting based in US - web hosting geolocation does matter of course.

Bottom Line : US based hosting is a plus but not a biggest factor to rely on.

The important difference is the speed.

Two servers, one in US east coast and one in US west coast, can send a ping round trip in under 100ms, whereas,
going overseas would add at least another 200 ms to the time. So, it would take three times as long for Google
just to request and download your page.

And that is just a ping which is only a few bytes. Image when Google needs to download a page of text which
    is a few thousand bytes.

You should also focus on targeted audience and keyword.

In my own experiences, hosting your sites on servers of your targeted country would be helpful in increasing page loading time and thus help in SEO for some extents. :)

    Thanks,
