Made some backend upgrades to the geotargetting database used for Geo Visitors and the User Map here at the forum, and they should both be quite a bit more accurate.

The link to the Geo Visitors page isn't going to be really accurate because I don't run the tracking image in the forum.

I know, was just messing with you... Hey, I had it on the KingBloom Directory for a while, but pulled it because everytime someone went to the image there were "NO" visitors. I am pretty sure it worked at one time... No idea why it stopped. I'll have to try it again!

Sounds like you altered the HTML (like hosting the image on your end maybe).

Bingo.. I saw someone else do it, and did the same. Is that not aloud? From an aesthetic standpoint, it looked better....

It's not that it's not "allowed", but the image is how it knows who visited your site. So it won't work without it. It would be like trying to get Google Analytics reports for your site, but not wanting to put the Google Analytics JavaScript on your site. :) There's no way it will just magically "know". :)

Maybe I just missed it, but is there a textual breakdown per country?
    such as:
    India 1
    Pakistan 3
    United Kingdom 508
    United States 1,348

Any idea why the number of pins shown on the map vary from one computer to another. Is it the browser the person is using? This has been checked with IE6, Firefox 1.5, and Opera. Each displays a different number of pins. Has even been check on different computers in different countries. Big Mystery!

    Thanks, Gene

Does the page say it's showing users from the same site? (it will tell at the top in bold)

    http://www.brazil.studyintl.com

in bold letters in the Geo map page which has the code for adding to a site.

Tried to send a screenshot but too large for the forum to accept.

This is no biggie, just curious as hell as to why.

You sure both computers say www.brazil.studyintl.com? Maybe one says brazil.studyintl.com (no www)?

My machine sees "www" while the other computer only sees "brazil.studyintl.com" in the top portion of geovisitors...above the map.

Now the question. Why does my computer access seeing the map with "www" and the other without the "www"? Does it mean all persons will see the map pins from domain without the "www"?

It just depends on how they access the site you are mapping. It detects the URL they just clicked from. So anyone going to geovisitors from brazil.studyintl.com (no www), it will use that address. Ultimately it's more about the end user, and how they are accessing the site.

Not that it's really important for the geovisitors thing or anything, but from a site admin standpoint, it's probably a good idea to redirect users accessing it one way to whichever the site admin prefers. For example if a user goes to http://digitalpoint.com, the server automatically redirects them to http://www.digitalpoint.com

I installed Geovisitors to my Myspace account last week and LOVE it. However, the past few days I have noticed that while Myspace shows, let's say, 20 new hits, the Geovisitors map will onlyshow 3 or 4. Any ideas about this? Thanks.
