    Hello,

Do you guys select specific states or just choose United States when geo targetting in Adwords?

    Thanks

Depends on what you're trying to sell/promote.

It depends on the audience you're trying to target. For example, if your a local heating and air conditioning company based in Chicago and serving Illinois, Indiana, and Iowa, it would make no sense to advertise in other states because you can't serve them.

Converely, if you're promoting an e-book on heating and air conditioning repair techniques, that is something you can deliver to any one in any state. In that case, you'd target the United States.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot guys, but I heard from other expert PPC guys that they actually target by states since Google displays their ads to those other people around the world that uses google.com. is this true?

Google shows ads to people within the geo you specify.
