Hey DP nation, I got a strange problem/question. I have a website(.com extension) and it had good authority and all other factors to it, so I was planning to re-direct it to a different domain (.us extension) because I got a better domain name for it. When I did a 301 re-direct from the .com to .us domain, I saw a jump in the ranking overnight, literally to second page for google, which is a very god thing. When I started doing some link building to it, I could evidently notice that its rankings are being hurt. It eventually started going down. Why do you think this is happening? Can I still retain my rankings if I remove the 301 re-direct? Is a link wheel with 301 redirect safe? Please list all your views on it. Just like every one, I want my website to top in Google. Thanks in advance for your help Mods: Apologies if this thread dint land in a proper place, feel free to take any action if this is against any forum rules.
Its normal if you are not doing anything that seems suspecious to google. Simply leave all .com urls redirected 301 to new .us urls, start promoting your new .us domain and stop promoting .com domain. You ranking might fluctuate for some days but will be everything ok. Just wait and watch.
