On one of my sites I am running Joomla and open-sef. It was working perfect untill joomla updated. I updated it thru fantastico(i won't do it again). Since that update every time Googlebot or the Yahoo bot hit my site they return "0" pages in my stats. Using googles webmasters tool I found out its getting a bunch of 404s. I am wondering if this will hurt my rankings? I like the new SEF url but theres a few broken links according to google. I setup some of the broken URLs to open the page they had before. However all the links on my index.php are live and work perfect. Im not quite sure what to do any help is highly appreciated.
Hi, Such problem might be occurred because of your site's internal links was changed after the update. Rank of your index page won't change but internal pages of your site won't be accessible from Google and Yahoo till next indexing. It's only a version, to tell you exactly I have to compare your site internal links before update and after it.
which versom on Joomla are you working with now? This happend to me once. I took down the old XML file and submitted a new one.
1.0.12. Im trying to switch the links back as google returns a 404. I did submit a new sitemap but nothing has changed.
This also happened to me, you just need to wait for Google to index your site again. Are you using Joomap?
no, im using the sitemap tool thats built into open-sef. It hasn't worked very well so I may try something different. Google is back to finding pages on the site but yahoo is still lost. My ranking slipped a little but I also missed posting new articles the past 2 days. Actually they slipped a lot. Im down to the end of page 5 for my main keyword and was about mid page 4.
