    Hi folks,

I've just got 2 short questions, hope you can easily help me ;)

1: -When you register a domain name, why do you have to provide things like exactly whats your name, where are you living etc?
This is the data you will see lateron if you "whois" the site, right?
I mean, who cares and what happens if you enter a false name, are you still able to sell the domain name to some1 else then?

2: -When you register a domain name, it will expire some time later. Lets say we bought a domain name for one year. What will happen if this one year passed? Is some1 else able to register and use the domain then?

Thanks in advance, I would be really glad if some1 could help me!

ICann requires accurate information but a lot of people don't list there details correctly. If you are pushing the name then it is not that important but selling it and transfers are a bit different.

When it expires you can pay to get the name back if it is in redemption period but it can be expensive, Godaddy charge about $80 for example. After a certain time the name will be dropped and anyone can register it.
