    Hello Digital Point…

I am looking at promoting the following website www.icecricket.co.uk

Now its Google number 1 for the search term “ice cricket” however I would like to increase traffic to the site and maybe get number 1 for the search term “cricket tours!”

I have been recommended to submit articles to loads of sites which I will be doing over the next couple of weeks.

Can anybody suggest ways of optimising the above for cricket tours or the best way of getting traffic.

You can also look for directory submissions using 'Cricket Tours' as the anchor text. Also, make sure the articles you collect have links using your related keywords and key phrases as the linking text for you to gain high rankings on search engines for those keywords.

Its not a really competitive KW to target, so with a little effort, you should be seing results soon.

First off my friend, your homepage is on a 'content diet' i.e it lacks content!

Splash is just not the way to go anymore, so bug the flash and bring your content to the homepage before delving into serious promotion!

Articles are a good start but don't solely depend on them! Rather diversify your strategy!

As rosie said, go on for directory submissions but then try and create a buzz! Setup a PR blog (PR stands for Public Relation here) and talk to the people!
This PR blog will be exposed to love from sites like technorati and other rss directories! That should get you traffic! Comment on other cricket blogs and leave behind a link to your blog. Maybe these links are nofollowed, but people will be exposed to your site!

Nice site and something unique, Goodluck with the Optimisation!

    Cheers guys and gals!!!

Is there any way around the splash page. I like it and would find it difficult to bring myself to remove it..

The Clickz network has a decent article on SEO mistakes and one of them is the 'Splash Page'

    You can read it here,

    To quote what am saying,
There you go, it's your discretion in the end!

No, it has to go if you want to get the best ranking. However, that doesn't mean you have to remove it from your site altogether. Link to it from a subpage, such as your sitemap or an image gallery page, if you're really that attached to it. Just don't make that image your index page.
