    Looking for general advice please
eccomerce site 2000 to 5000 products

I like Wordpress but have never used it for selling with a cart, pros and cons ?

What is the best cart option for WP?

If not WP what is the best option for ease of use, loading and the biggest concern SEO?

    Any input appreciated, thank you

SEO is largely a non issue these days. With that said, what are you selling? I typically do all my client sites with Magento. Its an enterprise level solution. I typically suggest a range of commercial addons for marketing and ton of other stuff as well. If you can be a bit more specific I can lay out the plan for you.

EDIT: heh, I know you. Hit me up on skype.
    How goes the steel biz?

For Wordpress there are many plugins for eccomerce, here are some:

    http://jigoshop.com/
    http://getshopped.org/
    http://www.woothemes.com/woocommerce/

As for standard ecommerce scripts here are some:

    http://www.magentocommerce.com/
    http://www.cubecart.com
    http://www.prestashop.com/
    http://www.opencart.com/
    http://www.oscommerce.com/
    http://www.zen-cart.com/
    https://www.cs-cart.com/

And for more free scripts check: http://www.hotscripts.com/category/scripts/php/scripts-programs/e-commerce/shopping-carts/

I would personally recommend you to go for an ecommerce script and don't include Wordpress into this. I have worked in the past with CS Cart, Magento and OpenCart. They are all easy to use and maintain and they offer a lot more functionality than Wordpress and plugins for this kind of store with that many products.

I really like woocommerce and it's extremely easy to use and customize. I've also used Opencart too and although it is an extremely nice bit of kit - extensions are normally commercial and quite high priced too.

woocommerce is nice if you want simple and cheap but you, if, want to have lots of features and have advance knowlege or resources you should go for magento. Mag3nto
