HI does anyone know the going rate for a leaderboard banner ad (200x60) on the homepage of a website? i know some people measure on impressions and popularity of a site but what about a flat monthly rate? for example, i am thinking of placing my banner ad on the top of this sites homepage http://www.awesomeflorida.com/ I am a local entertainment company in florida and would benefit from exposure on this site. judging on this sites looks and 1st impressions, and without emailing the webmaster, what do you think it would cost per month?
How the website looks doesn't weigh on how much the banner advertisement will cost.... it depends on your traffic and how many unique visitors you have. What is your traffic? Also PR may play a role (but is mainly for text based ads..)
remember, a lot of times you can negotiate. you might be able to get on sites that don't have an ad program by calling and asking. probably wouldn't hurt anyways.
$10 a month is way good, but i dont think it would be that cheap, because i spend over $500 a month on google ad words and my ads run all over the net with keywords of "florida vacation" and general target traffic. I would think that if I purchased banner space on a website that specialized in my geographic area (like this one and is very targeted traffic), and this website seems to be the unofficial site of my area. so i would love to be on this website but i dont know what kind of $$ to offer in my negotiation with the webmaster. Is $400 a month to high? I found out that my local online newspaper http://www.floridatoday.com costs $2200 a month for running a banner ad on their homepage.
I don't really think there's any other way of doing it, beyond seeing what your competitors are charging (anonymously asking them for an advertising kit). I've seen sites charge even more than $2,000 for ads.
