Hi all, Just wondering if anyone got any experience in promoting wedding photography website or similar from scratch?? I suppose it's imortant for you to know that website is fully Flash based so there isn't much room for the on-site optimisation... (I think) Anyway.. Looking forward to here from you soon. Thanks!
Big thing would be to go where the brides are - look at advertising on wedding sites like TheKnot.com (also has a pretty active forum) or event planning sites like GigMaster.com. Listings there would be helpful, plus look at improving Google local rank for the area the photographer is based in.
Facebook might be an idea too. Or Google AdWords. But I think the best promotion for a wedding photographer is targeting your immediate area, not the internet. And if you want to do the foot-work a mail-drop could be a good idea, wedding expos and magazines also could bring some trafic.
Thanks guys! How would you suggest improving local rank in Google since it's a flash website? Is that possible or realistically achievable at all?
It is possible. You can use Flash to make a better appearance but you do not have to stick with it. You can use textual content decorated by CSS to make them more appealing along with the Flash object anyway.
1) Create an HTML version for the site and give visitors an option to choose whether they wish to see flash version or HTML version. In either case, you'd benefit from the point of getting crawled and indexed. 2) Create a top 20 wedding planners directory for all major cities. Create an award badge that they can show off on their sites. Include a clean html link back to your domain. Let them know that they have made it to the top wedding planners list. 3) Create a funniest wedding moments pics/vids library and share it via Faceboook just my 0.02 $ ninja_va
