What you really want to do is increase Targeted traffic to your site. There are a lot of easy and cheap ways to increase traffic, but if you do not target it properly then all you will be left with is a high bounce rate. The best long term solution is to work on your SEO. Keywords, Meta Tags, keyword rich content on every page with internal links. Build up links, submit to directories (particularly the big 3 DMOZ, Google and Yahoo), write articles and/or start a blog and make sure to put links back to your site. And keep in mind to keep working at it. Don't do it once and think you are done. It is an ongoing process. Good Luck
Gettin good keywords, and then building pages, titles and articles from there has always seemed like a good method to me.

It takes a fair bit of work and dedication to start generating traffic streams. However, once you understand what works you can focus your energies on that. Stay away from "traffic in a box" type schemes (ie paying for 1 million visitors for a tenner or any "I'll post your email to 1 million prospects for $10 etc). If money is really tight, then you will need to invest extra effort on learning free traffic generation techniques (which actually can be very effective, as much as paid traffic sources). Consider writing articles, submitting quick 2 minute videos on your niche branded with your URL, Craiglist, forums, Yahoo Answers... there are many techniques that can bring you a lot of traffic. I've PMd you something, I hope you find it useful.
I'm new to marketing, what I'm finding is it's a long slog initially. I'm doing the articles etc. and find it very time consuming. Long term I can see things easing off, but if you want the free traffic there is no easy answer to hard graft. One thing i will say is I've found a mine of helpfull info in this forum.
There are many, many methods of traffic generation. I would suggest you study three of our, get good at them, and then make yourself a system to follow. Repeat it as often as possible. Oh, and don't promote more than one site if you're new! Stick to one site only.
First, have quality content. Think about your HUMAN READERS. Second, Link build it; having a good SERP is a big factor in having good traffic. Next, promote it thru social networking sites, forums, and other social medias (video, photos).
First Off put your advertising links in your signature here at this forum. You are losing out on links by not having it. secondly Keep making posts here and ask question after question and learn what every ones doing that works. If you have something special you want to know about find it in the DP search.
I you have a good banner, find a really good site with good related traffic in your niche and have your banner hosted there. If you look through the forum here, you will see people advertising to host banners on their site for $10 month or so. First off, ensure their traffic will complement your traffic. For instance, if you sell childrens toys, look for parenting sites. If you sell flowers, look for gift sites. Hope this gives you some good ideas.
