Knowledge=power. The more you read, the more powerful you become.

Sure we can tell you what online marketing is right here, but then we'd be doing all the work for you :). Just search general marketing here, or search "internet marketing tips", "web marketing tips", "online marketing advice", etc on the web and you'll find a TON of information.

I'm not saying it's wrong for people to start you out with some links, but from my experience, it's always better to try to do everything yourself. Like maybe find some marketing information, and come back and ask "is this good info?", and then we'll tell you if you're on the right track.

Your question is incredibly broad and almost impossible to answer!

Marketing, no matter if it is online or offline is all about attracting people to you. In the case of online, you are probably trying to attact site visitors to your website.

There are so many techniques and ways to do this and there are slight variations on how you go about it depending on the nature and purpose of your website.

These forums have a wealth of information about online marketing, and you need to put in the effort to read. There is no way out of this.

    Now some specifics,
Get your site indexed by Search engines,
    Get Backlinks to your site,
    submit your site to directories,
Put your site in your Forum Signature,
Write articles and include your site in the footer and post them to article sites,
    Run A PPC campaign,
Leave relavent comments on Blogs within your niche,
Participate in forums with a theme similar to your site.
Put your URL into your Email signature.
Buy Links or banners on relavent sites.

this should be enough to get you started.

sorry, my mistake, I wasn't very exact.

what I need is technical information regarding the process of getting ads to my web site - how to apply for them? what kind of programs there are? what should I look for? what should I avoid? etc.

I am sure that there have to be some guides, tutorials, articles etc. summarizing the topic.

sorry to confuse you guys again

If you have just started a website, you will find selling ads hard work, because advertisers need sites with lots and lots of traffic
When a website first starts out, it just doesnt have anything like the traffic needed to be worth it for advertisers

    So
I would think your best bet for now is the Pay Per Click publisher deals, where you get a percentage of the bid amount that has been paid by the advertiser

I would say such income from advertising revenue will be small - but it could grow in the future if you manage to grow your traffic

Its generally better to concentrate on providing a top quality product of your own that is unique to you and that has a market. you can check for "markets" by doing a search on the yahoo publisher site - part of yahoo.com - and see how many searches it says are done for whatever keyword your product fits into - that will give you some idea

Google Adsense is one of the main providers of text-ads allowing you to earn money from displaying others adverts. If you head over to google.com/adsense this has the information in full that you will need from them.

    hi again,

did some research and want to ask you guys again:

    - is it possible at all to display/sell ads on relatively new site (with already quite high traffic) or is it necessary to have stable and well developed traffic and traffic history and be screened and approved by banner ad network?
    - what kind of strategy should I use if I have a lot of impressions but relatively small amount of unique visits?

    thx in advance
