Just a general question: for how many keywords/phrases do you SEO your websites?? 3-5 keywords 5-10 keywords? Second question: Is it doable, good practice to optimize subparts of your website for other keywords then your main website. Subpart would be SEO on related keywords but less searched. Any tips are welcome.
I am a kid when it comes to seo and i dont have the money to hire professionals so what i do might sound funny to you but thats what i think works the best in a situation i am in I set up one site (mostly have forums) and i target about 7-10 words or phrases and to be honest wiht you i dont see much success wiht that so i came up with this solution a few months back all those 7-10 keywords which i target i actually buy new domains with those keywords in them and then set up blogs on them and one post a week keeps them going and links to the main site wors wonders and my main site ranks very well for keywords supported like this dont know if pros consider this black hat or something but i dont reallycare coz i dont see anythign wrong in doing this so i just do it and i do it all the time for each and every new site i set up i buy atleast 5-6 new domains to support it and thats all i can afford so works ok for me .
Totally depends on the site you're working for. If you're thinking along the long tail, you might even optimize sites for thousands of keywords.
Go for 2-3 main words on the homepage and maybe another 3-4 supportive keywords. Then optimize subpages for smaller keywords.
My newest site, im only targetting two or three keywords, but ill have to do alot of deep linking for inner pages..
