General Bookkeeping Question - What methods do you all use?

I'm new at the game and was going over some old receipts and thinking to myself, I should have declared this and that as expenses. Seeing as we're getting into tax time...

Do you use QuickBooks or MSMoney, an Excel sheet, post-it notes, cocktail napkins?

Or do you just wing it?

    All the best,
    -KikoB

I've been using QuickBooks for years. Actually I am a QuickBooks Pro Advisor. QBs is extremely easy to use. For accountants (which I am one full time) it can be a little messy to clean up sometimes. This mainly comes from clients just not knowing how to do certain entries.

I had a new client that was using PeachTree and I actually bought the new version thinking I could help him. It is totally different from QBs. Could not find my way around so I told him to go to a Peachtree Accountant. Hated to lose a client but knew my limitations.

If you can find someone local who will sit down and talk to you about QBs and your expectations out of it that would be great. I do this as a free consultation to new clients. Gives both of us an idea of what will need to be done and if it is possible to do it in QBs.

    Hope this helps
    Dany
