Our business needs some internet search presence to help get us going....no one seems to have heard of the yellow pages anymore. As far as key words go, it doesn't seem like we will have too much competition. But, the more I try to research, the more confused I get. Can anyone explain how to get ranked without forking out a bunch of money we don't have?
You've already started! If you have the time, everything you need to learn is right here in the forums (and at that "other" "Webmaster" forum)... There are no shortcuts and no magic bullets..except for one: BACKLINKS & Anchor text...
Tell about your products and its uses, minimum 400 words a page, use keywords naturally six or seven times in body copy, and also in the title and description tags, get a few links with your keywords in the link text from a site that is already listed... Your site should soon be listed in the search engines.
My page is roadtechusa.com. Don't laugh too hard when you read the source code.....It's my first attempt at html. The biggest thing I'm unsure of is how to get the whole back linking going. Basically, if we can't get in the top 5 when searching for emergency road assistance in Las Vegas......all my fumbling is for naught.
After you did your homework with your on site SEO, you will need to build link popularity for your site. Basically, search engines have spiders (they kind of scan the web), and when they see a link pointing to your website, they count it as a vote for it. The more links you have on other sites, the higher you will rank. But there are different quality of links, links from good PR link page and related to your website are what you need to build. For more info on how to build link popularity, you can go to Link Development section in this forum. Good luck
Chuck a link in prestigedealer.com since you are asking for help - thats one back link immediately. Normally you have to pay but select featured link and I'll give you a freeby. Make your title "emergency road side assistance las vegas", normally you wouldn't get away with this in a directory, but I'll make an exception for ya.
In regards to getting 400 words a page, how do I manage that while not overcluttering the page? If I leave the home page clean and to the point for visitors, can I load up other pages within the site and have the search engines be affected by those pages, or is it just the first page they consider?
"In regards to getting 400 words a page, how do I manage that while not overcluttering the page?". The bullet list on your home page is nice and clean, but doesn't contain many words. Leave it where it is, but then down below write some detail about each service. Describe the actual things you do with each service and why. For example: "Emergency Vehicle Lockout Service" should have a section that contains words like "lost keys", "keys locked in car in las vegas", "unlocking a car in las vegas", etc. Use words that people locked out of their car would use when searching the internet (google, yahoo, etc.) for help Another alternative would be to write one page for each service. But to start with I'd get more text on the home page.
Thanks freelistfool.....I added to the bottom of the page with key words. If you get a chance take a look at it and send me some feedback if I can do better.
Write some articles about your business/niche, submit to the major article directories like ezinearticles.com, goarticles.com etc..make sure you have a link on those articles back to your site. You'll get 100's of links in no time. Another thing you can do is send a press release. Both these methods don't cost anything. Good luck!
When I submit articles or press releases, do I submit them with the html hyper link included in the article? How do I include the link?
Links are best inserted in the Author Byline at the bottom of an article. Article publishers allow you to add a few lines about yourself - Author Byline - at the end of the article. They also allow you to include a live link to your Web site in this byline. After you have showcased the benefits you provide to your customer in the body of the article, impressed readers are likely to click this link and land at your site. As to press releases, the link to your site is typically an integral part of the copy. It might be included in the body itself, or in a special position provided by the PR publisher.
Thanks socialhuman, I'm going to make my business partners start writing articles and blogs and see what we can get going.
